COVID-19 Response for NWCOG (Updated March 26)

By March 26, 2020 No Comments

Dear NWCOG Family,

Over the past several days, as I’ve reflected upon all that is transpiring locally, nationally, and globally relating to the COVID-19 outbreak, I’m reminded about how often we live our lives with this illusion of control.

The writing of Jesus’ brother, James, in James 4:13-17 comes to mind:

“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.

What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”

As a people, we often make too many prideful presumptions about tomorrow! Unfortunately, many of us take our “life” and “time” for granted! Maybe this pandemic is a good reminder, again, as the Scripture instructs:

Instead, (of planning on your own without God; presuming you know what the future holds; boasting and bragging of your plans to do this or that tomorrow) you ought to say, “If it is the LORD’S will, we will live and do this or that.”

As the leadership of the North Webster Church of God, we are planning to follow the guidance of the CDC and our national/state government leaders. Stay home with your family! Together, let us continue to turn to God and offer thanks for the blessings we do have. Then, with prayer and petition, together let us present our requests to Him.

In addition, we will continue to meet together as the church family via “Facebook Live” on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. as long as the government permits us to assemble/gather (worship band and preacher) to broadcast our service! This Live Stream will be available on our Website or Mobile App.

North Webster Church of God physical facilities will be closed to all public gatherings effective, March 14, 2020 – April 11, 2020 and our church office will be closed through April 7th.

Also, all ministry gatherings (small and large) including but not limited to the following are indefinitely postponed: our Mid-Week services, Ladies Bible Studies, Men’s Gatherings, and Life Groups/Small Group meetings, JOY, LIA Ladies. In addition, the Main Street Coffee Co and “The Tree House” will be closed as well.

If you have an emergency, call the church office at 574-834-4281 and leave a message so we can return your call as soon as we can!  Also, you can find more info and any updates at www.nwcog.org or on the mobile app.

As we get closer to Easter Sunday, we will be sending out an update as we carefully watch and gain information moving forward from our local and national leaders.

May God smile on you and may Jesus guard your hearts and minds in Him. You are loved!
